This stimulating and intensive THREE-day workshop offers both an understanding of the Emotional Repercussions of Dyslexia, and also practical applications to address the issues that it creates. By popular demand, a newly added third day gives participants the opportunity to put recently learned skills into active practice. It is a valuable toolkit for all those who support dyslexic people such as counsellors, trainers, supervisors, social workers, youth workers, tutors, teachers, teaching assistants, and managers etc., and will provide knowledge and skills that can be used directly with clients.
The workshop has been designed as a foundation for professionals who already have a basic understanding and practice of dyslexia support and wish to expand their learning therapeutically within a mentoring/coaching framework. It is also excellent in helping dyslexic professionals appreciate their abilities and life experiences.
If you are looking to further develop your skills and confidence in working with dyslexic clients using the GroOops approach or add some new techniques to your toolbox, this is the course for you.
You will join like-minded individuals for a three-day therapeutic, coach/ mentoring programme addressing the Emotional Repercussions of Dyslexia. This is a skills training workshop based in a tranquil, harmonious setting that nurtures personal and professional wellbeing.
We will be focusing specifically on integrating the learning from our GroOops Dyslexia Aware Counselling experience, developing your personal practice further and direct you in ways to benefit your client base in new and innovative ways. You will leave this workshop with improved clarity and confidence to incorporate new understanding and skills into your clients’ lives.
The GroOops philosophy is based around developing an extensive understanding of how dyslexia can and does impact on the emotions and therefore, potentially, on every aspect of a person’s life. Without this knowledge, it can be challenging to work therapeutically with neuro-diversity. A dyslexic person, in an emotionally distraught state, is not someone who can engage easily with further learning – including skills support.
Our approach and training programme is successful because we know and understand what is required to change your dyslexic clients’ lives for the better, reduce anxiety and improve self-confidence. this is based on our ten years experience of working with the emotional repercussions of Dyslexia and evidenced by feedback from clients and professionals as to the efficacy of our approach.
A familiarisation of constitutional presentations of dyslexia and the potential emotional repercussions.
Focuses specifically on practice. Methodologies and devices we have found work for our dyslexic clients and why.
By popular request we are now including a third day full of highly experiential skills practice, role play, case studies and live supervision demonstrations – putting into practice the theory gained in the preceding two days.
